Preview
A simplified preview. Apps change their layouts, so the real screen can differ a little. Instagram and Facebook are trademarks of Meta Platforms, Inc.; Locusolve is not affiliated with Meta.
The sizes
Instagram and Facebook photo sizes.
These are the sizes the resizer makes. We checked them against Instagram’s and Meta’s own help pages on October 26, 2026. The apps change from time to time, so their help pages are the final word.
-
Instagram feed posts
Square 1080 × 1080, portrait 1080 × 1350 (4:5) or tall 1080 × 1440 (3:4). Instagram keeps photos between 320 and 1080 pixels wide at full quality when their shape is between wide 1.91:1 and tall 3:4; other shapes are cropped.
-
Instagram stories and reels
Full screen at 1080 × 1920 (9:16). Meta suggests keeping about the top 14% and bottom 20% clear of words and logos, because the name, buttons and reply box sit there.
-
Facebook feed posts
Square 1080 × 1080 or portrait 1080 × 1350 (4:5), as JPG or PNG.
-
Facebook stories
Full screen at 1080 × 1920 (9:16), with about the top and bottom 14% kept clear of words and logos.
-
Facebook Page cover photo
At least 400 × 150. Facebook says 851 × 315 as a JPG under 100 KB loads fastest, so the resizer aims for that. Phones show a different crop, so keep the important part in the middle.
-
Facebook profile picture
Shown as a circle, at 176 × 176 on computers and 196 × 196 on phones. Facebook recommends 320 × 320 for the best quality.
How it works
One photo, every size.
Everything happens in your browser. Your photo is never uploaded.
-
Step 1
Add a photo
Drag it in or choose it from your computer or phone. JPG, PNG and WebP photos work.
-
Step 2
See it in place
Switch between Instagram and Facebook and pick a size. The preview shows it as a post, story, cover or profile picture, with the parts the app covers shaded.
-
Step 3
Frame it and download
Drag the photo to choose what shows and zoom if you need to. Each size keeps its own framing. Download one, or every size in a ZIP.
Getting it right
Posts that look right.
-
Start with a large photo
A photo at least 1080 pixels on its shorter side gives every size a sharp result. The resizer warns you when a size has to be enlarged.
-
Keep words away from the edges
Stories cover the top and bottom with names and buttons, and covers are cropped differently on phones. Keep text and logos near the middle.
-
Frame each size on its own
A square and a story need different framing of the same photo. Each size here remembers its own position and zoom.
-
Logos and transparent images
A transparent PNG stays transparent for posts, stories and profile pictures. The cover is saved as JPG, Facebook’s fastest option, with a white background.

No. The resizer works entirely in your browser. Your photo is not sent to Locusolve, stored or shared.
There is no evidence that image size alone changes reach. The right size simply means nothing important is cut off and the photo looks sharp.
The preview is a simplified drawing of each layout. Apps change their design from time to time and differ between phones, so the real screen can vary slightly.
