Accessibility Statement
The standard we build this website to, what we have done, known limitations and how to tell us about a barrier.
We build websites for businesses whose customers include people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification and other assistive technology, and we hold our own website to the same standard. We want everyone to be able to find out what we do and get in touch with us.
Our standard
We design and build locusolve.com to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, the standard most widely used in Canada. We test against it as we build and when we make changes. We have not yet had an independent accessibility audit, so we describe the website as aiming for, rather than certified to, that standard.
What we have done
- Keyboard access: every link, menu, form and button can be reached and used with a keyboard, with a clearly visible focus outline.
- Skip link: a “skip to content” link is the first thing on every page, so keyboard and screen reader users can bypass the navigation.
- Clear structure: each page has one main heading and a logical heading order, with labelled navigation regions and landmarks for assistive technology.
- Readable text: text and background colours are chosen for strong contrast, body text is not shrunk to fit, and text can be enlarged in the browser.
- Images: meaningful images have text alternatives, and decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Forms: every form field has a visible label, required fields are marked, and errors are explained in text, not by colour alone.
- Motion: animations are subtle, never block reading or scrolling, and are turned off when your device is set to reduce motion. The content is all there without JavaScript.
- Phones and zoom: pages reflow for small screens and zoom without content being cut off or needing sideways scrolling. We check layouts from 360 pixels wide to large desktop screens.
Known limitations
We know of these areas where the experience may fall short:
- Booking calendar: our consultation calendar is provided by Cal.com and loads inside our booking page. We do not control its code, and some screen reader or keyboard users may find it harder to use. You can always book by phone or through the contact page instead.
- Project screenshots: images of websites we have built are pictures of those websites. We describe them in text, but the screenshots themselves cannot be read word for word by a screen reader.
- Other websites: links to Google reviews, client websites and other services take you to websites we do not control.
We are working to improve these, and we will update this page as we do.
Other ways to reach us
If any part of the website gets in your way, you do not need to use it. You can call us at 403-383-4306, use the Email us link, or use the contact page, and we will help you directly. If you need information from this website in another format, ask us and we will provide it.
Tell us about a barrier
We welcome feedback on the accessibility of this website. If you have trouble with any page, please tell us:
- the page address (URL);
- what you were trying to do and what happened; and
- if you are comfortable sharing it, the browser and any assistive technology you use.
We read every message, will reply to let you know how we plan to fix the problem, and will fix what is within our control.
About this statement
This statement was last reviewed on the date shown at the top of the page. It is based on our own testing of the website at phone, tablet and desktop widths, including keyboard-only navigation, heading and landmark checks, colour contrast checks and the reduced-motion setting.
